Obit: ROCKBRIDGE TREASURER DIED TODAY
LEXINGTON, Sept. 27 – (AP) – William A. Adair, sixty-seven Rockbridge County Treasurer, died early today at his home after a heart attack.
Adair was a son of the late James McDowell Adair and Ida Lee Rapp of Union, W. Va. He was educated at Washington and Lee University and worked in his father’s store until he became Rockbridge County treasurer in 1917. He was chairman of the Board of Deacons of Lexington Presbyterian Church, a Kiwanian, a Mason, and a member of Sons of Confederate Veternas.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Welsh Adair; a brother, Dr. Templeton Adair of Mount Hope, W. Va.; two sisters, Miss Bessie Lee Adair of Rockbridge and Miss Agnes Parr Adair of Lexington.
