Trestleboard: April 2020
Mountain City Lodge No. 67 - Lexington, Virginia
From the East

Brethren,

Today’s situation in the world is unlike any of us have faced—from the Greatest Generation who served in World War II, to the newest Entered Apprentice in the northeast corner of the Lodge. Make no mistake, today’s crisis will shape your life. I know that Masonry will rise to the various challenges, and our Lodge is fortunate to have a strong brotherhood to overcome these difficult times.

Moomaw Commandery of Knights Templar No. 27
Rockbridge Royal Arch Chapter No. 44

The Companions of Rockbridge Chapter No. 44 and the Sir Knights of Moomaw Commandery No. 27 are dormant as well. We cannot meet but we are enjoying correspondence courses, Royal Arch webinars, and other means to gain further light. Please contact the Secretary for both groups, Brent Buswell, if you are interested in these organizations.
From the Archives
"A note following the minutes of September 2, 1918 reads as follows:

By order of the Board of Health no communications of the Lodge were held from October to November 4, 1918 inclusive.

This was one of the effects of the influenza epidemic of that period, during which several of the most prominent members of the Lodge were victims of that dread scourge.”

Be joyful and happy that as of recent, all of our members have reported being in good health. -JSL
Joke from Jack

Wait for the Police
A priest and a rabbi are in a car crash, and it's a bad one. Both of their cars are demolished but amazingly neither one of them is hurt. After they crawl out of their cars, the rabbi says, "So you're a priest. That's interesting; I'm a rabbi. Wow, look at our cars! Thre's nothing left, but we're unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace."

The priest replies, "Oh, yes, I agree. It's a miracle that we survived and are here together."

"And here's another miracle," says the rabbi. "My car is destroyed but this bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink the wine and celebrate our good fortune," he says, handing the bottle to the priest.

The priest nods in agreement, opens the wine, drinks half of it, and hands it back to the rabbi.

The rabbi takes it and puts the cap back on.

"Aren't you going to have any?" asks the priest.

"Not right now," says the rabbi. "I think I'll wait until after the police make their report."
