Trestleboard, August 2019 Mountain City Lodge No. 67 - Lexington, Virginia STATED MEETING DATE CHANGE September Stated Communication will be on TUESDAY, September 3rd,  and we will be holding an E.A. Degree for Evan Hanna. Additionally, there will be a M.M. Degree at 6pm on Wednesday, September 18th at Mountain City.    From the East Brethren, Tuesday, September 3 will be the night for our stated meeting due to Monday being Labor Day. We hope you will join us for dinner as we have changed up our dinners to move away from pasta. Our dessert will be pecan pie and ice cream which was graciously donated by Chapter and Commandery! In addition, we will have an Entered Apprentice Degree during our meeting to initiate one of our new members Evan Hanna. I also want to thank R.W. John Dester for all of his work with the James Stanley Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament which was a complete success. I appreciate all of the brothers that volunteered and played in the tournament. We have some exciting meetings coming up and some great degree work for our new members. Please review the dates and upcoming events below. The more events you can attend will only strengthen our fraternal bond and our Lodge! Fraternally, Brent W. Fellows Worshipful Master Master Mason’s Degree There will be a Master Mason’s degree on September 18 at 6pm for Joshua Calhoun and David Cartwright. The first practice for this degree is Tuesday, August 27. Time is 7pm, sharp. If you’d like additional instruction to prepare, let me know and we’ll gather a little early at 6:30pm to prep. The Master and his officers will handle the first part, with a substitution or two. We have brethren lined up for most parts but if you’d like to learn more please feel free to attend! York Rite Updates Moomaw Commandery of Knights Templar No. 27 Rockbridge Royal Arch Chapter No. 44   Ready to continue your Masonic journey? The Royal Arch and Knights Templar are two more York Rite masonic groups you may join and they both meet in Mountain City Lodge. On September 21, in Marion, Virginia, there will be a day of the six Royal Arch degrees (9am-1pm) and then on October 26, same location, the Knights Templar Orders (9am-1pm) will be conferred. You could join both new masonic groups by Thanksgiving! If you’d like to learn more about these two smaller masonic organizations, contact Jesse Lyons or reply to this email. Lyons   PAY YOUR DUES, PLEASE www.MountainCityMasonicLodge.org Lodge Promotion and Brotherhood Event The Master’s focusing on brotherhood this year and has secured a “Local Lawn Tailgate” spot at the 25th Annual Rockbridge Beer & Wine Festival on September 7. Our Secretary, Jesse Lyons, is the chair of the event. It comes with a few free tickets he is assigning, but also the opportunity to have a tent and area to congregate and promote masonry’s brotherhood to an attendance of more than 1,000 people. The event itself supports the local Chamber of Commerce.
